Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (MPP) held its 32nd Gawad Urian 2009 Awards night at CCP's Little Theater (Tanghalang Aurelia Tolentino) last night September 19, 2009.'Serbis' (Centerstage Productions, Inc.) won Best Film. It is about a dysfunctional family who operates a rundown 'porno' theater in Pampanga. The movie stars Gina Pareno, Jaclyn Jose, Julio Diaz, Kristofer King, Dan Alvaro, Mercedes Cabral and Coco Martin. Its director, Brillante Mendoza, won the Best Director plum again. Last year, Brillante also won the Best Film (2008) for 'Tirador'. He was not present during the awards night since he was still in Brazil.
